Where are the Darias? →
“So where did all the Darias go? Eight years after the show went off the air, the super-smart, dry, withering, righteously angry girls are largely absent from pop culture.”
Day 20: Navigating Life with a Disability →
I’ve been reading/following the disability.gov blog’s Countdown to the 20th Anniversary of the ADA for a while now. It was a major step in the civil rights movement, and one of my personal interests. I’ve shared some posts on reader, and it’s definitely worth checking out. The book signing story in this one really got to me today :-)
I'm looking for some new tumblr-ers to follow

I use my phone more than my computer lately
I just got the HTC Evo a few weeks ago. Since then, I have used it to check email, twitter, text, talk, etc. All the usual stuff.
What’s not usual is that I use it to check Google reader ALL the time now. I use it to read websites I never would have with my old Blackberry Curve, because I couldn’t read them on the “tiny” screen.
I use it so much for this now, that my...
New USDOT/ADA Transportation Laws →
“The Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced the first federal rule to specifically provide Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protections to people with disabilities who travel on boats and ships. The rule applies to two categories of vessels - vessels operated by public entities, such as public ferry systems, and vessels operated by private entities that are mainly in the...

i heard this story on my way home from work. it made my day.
“ku info was actually an early form of google.” -vice president of engineering for google
Oh man. I can remember when you could call KU Info for pizza delivery numbers, or even random questions like how many trees are on campus, or how many kangaroos are in Australia. Really. I knew a lot of the staff of KU info...
This thing is broke, yo
Last week my phone stopped accepting a charge while plugged in. The mini USB port on my Blackberry Curve is pretty much destroyed, so I can’t charge the battery through that. I didn’t get any help on that from the Sprint store yesterday, which…well, whatever, I am looking to upgrade to the HTC EVO 4G next week when my upgrade date happens. Until then, I’m out of the...

Author Nicholas Carr: The Web Shatters Focus,... →
“And so we ask the Internet to keep interrupting us in ever more varied ways. We willingly accept the loss of concentration and focus, the fragmentation of our attention, and the thinning of our thoughts in return for the wealth of compelling, or at least diverting, information we receive. We rarely stop to think that it might actually make more sense just to tune it all out.”

The Series Finale of Lost is Sunday, May 23
After that’s over, I think I’ll start watching Twin Peaks. I hear it’s Lost-esque. I’m sure I’ve heard the twist ending somewhere, but I don’t think that will diminish my experience.
Plus, I’ll need a way to transition out of alternate reality world. This is just the ticket.

You know what? I work forty plus hours a week. If I want to kick back with a glass of wine (bottle of water), some cheese (goldfish), and a new episode of Lost (Sixteen and Pregnant), that’s my God-given right.

I loved every “very special episode” of Clone High. Classic.
And just to get me started....
Here’s a list of things I want to write about soon, in no particular order:
Caribbean vacation
SPRING!
Bar Show
Autism Awareness Month
Job Search
Information Overload/Detox
The Travel Bug
…and many, many more!
I haven't stopped reading
I just never seem to have anything to write when I’m at the computer. I’m full of ideas most of the time, but my creativity is being diffused in other ways at the moment, mostly with Bar Show rehearsal. Maybe I should carry around one of those moleskin notebooks I have stashed around here. Or just make notes on my blackberry. Or make an effort to write something every evening.

WOW! Wichita Shoutout!
fuckyeahlost:
Earlier this week, we posted a video (it’s since been removed from YouTube, though you can see it here) of Jorge, Elizabeth Mitchell, Yunjin Kim & Michael Emerson saying “mmm…cake.” I had no clue what it was all about, but I thought it was hilarious and a lot of you did as well. Jorge cleared up the mystery yesterday on his blog:

“I hear a lot of words like ‘beauty’ and ‘handsomeness’ and ‘incredibly chiseled features.’ To me that’s like a vanity, a self-absorption that I try to steer clear of. I dig the bungee. For me, it’s just the way I live my life. I grip...

It totally worked
Googling “bathroom organization” ideas motivated me enough to actually reorganize and modify my bathroom to make it more zen..and stuff.
Now I can only hope this motivation lasts through the day so I can get started after work!
Spring cleaning makes me feel like it’s springy outside, even when it’s not.
Four hours later....
I’m all caught up on my interwebs! The last time I was at my computer was Friday evening. I’m not sure if anyone else out there actually does this, but I always have this need to catch up on all the things I miss. I guess I value the stuff people I choose to follow and read have written or posted. Or maybe I’m just nuts.

I'm craving an early summer night
Just warm enough not to need a jacket. Summer dress weather. A light cool breeze and GREEN everywhere, even if it’s too dark to see. The smell of earth and life and energy. Insects buzzing.

In case you missed mine and Josh’s DNA test/interview (which you probably didn’t due to the excessive tweetiness), here it is. He and I come in at the 2:30 mark.
