Kansas!!!
Yesterday, the weather was right around 70, sunny almost all day, with a random rainstorm and hail in the early evening. But it was still nice.
Today, it’s right around 50. A little too cold for the last day of March, but it’s sunny and nice out, so it’ll have to do.
Kansas weather will continue to baffle me for the rest of my life, even though I’ve lived here for all of...
So there's this dog...
There’s a dog (@topdogvienna) that I’ve been following on twitter for a few weeks now. Yeah, I know it sounds funny, but I didn’t start following the dog until this cat (@sockington) asked me to, as part of the dog’s last wish. I know. This little daschund has been really sick lately, and his (I think it’s a boy, not sure) human family knew they wouldn’t have...
I worked out today
It was FANTASTIC.
I only did 30 min on the elliptical and 30 min on the treadmill (just walking today…I may step it up to jogging [yogging?] in the near future). But it was a great feeling, Seriously, why did I stop doing this?
Oh yeah, I got sick. Remember when my head was going to explode? But I’ve finally gotten back into it, so hooray.
I think the real key, just like THEY say,...
Past is not always Prologue
If you know anything about me, you know that I don’t really write about the most personal parts of my life. Mostly because those are mine, and I feel that by writing them down for everyone to see, those experiences are somehow diluted, and put out there to be twisted and judged, and every other negative effect that could occur if I share too much of myself with the very few readers of this...
The rapping flight attendant.
To get my mind off the loss. And because I’ll be flying soon. I just wish it were Southwest..I’ve always had funny flight attendants on SWA.
So...we lost.
It’s hard to type and harder to read back over it and admit that it happened. But. It did.
Some shady officiating, combined with some key plays missed and some odd choices by the Jayhawks left us just a few points shy of an Elite Eight showing.
But hey. No one thought this team would ever make it this far, and with such growth over the year. We did an awesome job and we deserve that...
Blizzard?
I guess you could call this a blizzard. It’s more like a lot of ice falling and little to no snow. The weather reports were so wrong. They said it would all be snow. Fail!
At least the game is on tonight! Rock Chalk!
Lame!
Missouri somehow beat Memphis tonight, and that was pretty much the worst thing ever. Not to mention the worst game played by Memphis this year. Gross. I just can’t stand when Mizzou wins. At anything. Even ping pong. Even SUDOKU! They just aren’t supposed to win. It means some kind of dark cloud of wrongness has settled over the world, and only one thing can save the day….
I...
Out of the internet
I spent almost the entire day today—er, yesterday, off the internet. Usually I don’t do this by choice, but it sort of worked out that way, and I am happy for it.
Of course, tomorrow is another day! :-P
Happy March Madness Day!
The best day of the year. Aside from Thanksgiving and my birthday :-)
First Impressions of the new Facebok Layout or...
(Originally posted on facebook. But was that good enough for me? Noooo!)
This is a long note. Kudos to you if you get through it! First, I am not whining about “another Facebook change.” I really liked the last major change, and I’ve liked most of the changes to design and function in the past. It’s entirely possible that I’ll get to like this version just fine. It...
RIP Natasha Richardson
I remember seeing her in “Cabaret” on Broadway in January 1999. She was fantastic, and I have loved her performances ever since then.
She truly was one of the better actresses of her generation, and I can’t even imagine how much she will be missed by her loved ones and by Hollywood and Broadway.
:-(
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I don’t know if this one is sparkly or not, but it’s something, and I like it!
Wondering if the McDonald’s around here serves the Shamrock shake…I haven’t looked yet.
Twitter keeps eating my tweets!
So I’m giving it a rest until much later today.
Irritating!
Epic Journey-Update!
I have managed to book trips to two cities (with a third as a bonus!), in April. In less than two weeks, I will go coast to coast. Notice:
San Diego, CA-CHECK
Los Angeles, CA-CHECK (bonus!)
Durham, NC-CHECK.
Austin, TX
New York, NY
Chicago, IL
Portsmouth, Commonwealth of Dominica, West Indies
Washington, District of Colombia (I could have just said “D.C.” but that’s not epic...
Rock Chalk!
So the Jayhawks got a three seed (which is what I figured we’d get all along, so nah nah!).
We also got pitted in the first round against a team that is composed of five redshirt seniors (they’re big, and they’re old). Yikes.
But I think we can do this, and I am excited to watch the first game Friday! Wooot!
Keepin it Real, Y'all.
Why I love chatting with K on gchat:
kristenfromkansas:
in the midst of a long job search and tired of writing all those contrived cover letters (“I look forward to hearing from you soon.”), sara drafted the following cover letter:
What up, Suckas! You gotsta gotsta check out my mad lawyering skillz. Dude, I know you need a playa like me fo sheez. Da job you got is da job I wants. I gots mad...
Blasphemy (and why I
Kristen: what if mizzou wins the tourney?
Me: bite your tongue! no such filth should ever be uttered by a KU fan! and I might have to go on a rampage
Kristen: me too
Me: like full on anger. that would be so so so wrong. they aren't allowed to win at things! didn't they learn when they lost the civil war?
Kristen: hehe
Me: haha..that was probably not pc
Kristen: yes it was, in my biased opinion
The Compliment Guys!
(although the dude they interviewed…eesh!)
[I removed the actual video because it had loud auto-play, which was kind of annoying. Here’s the link to the story and video:

B = Bust
Once, in a far away land, the ancient basketball deity of “B-B teams” set forth a curse on all teams represented by magnificent mythical-bird mascots, that whenever such mythical bird meets a B-B team in the opening round of any tournament, said mythical bird shall choke on its inability to make easy layups and wildly positioned 3-point shots.
Baylor 71, Jayhawks 64.
So it was...
It's tournament time! (part 1)
Whoo boy.
Me: lord. I think I need to make a chocolate run soon.
Kristen: mmm. there's a cake in my office kitchen.
Me: dude, they have CAKE! every office I've ever worked in, there's been a kitchen full of goodies. I always gain weight when I'm working.
Kristen: i know, its disgusting. last week it was cupackes.
Me: mmmm, cupcakes. wow. it's like, you know you shouldn't, but it's right there. and everyone else is doing it. so you figure, what the heck. just a little taste. and soon you're in a brokedown apt in the ghetto, selling yourself for the instant gratification of a hershey's kiss. the horror. THE HORROR!
I've been bad
I haven’t updated this thing in a few days now. GASP!
I guess I’ve been a little preoccupied. And twitter keeps me “micro-blogging” all the random thoughts I have, so there is less actual blogging going on. Actually, I don’t know if that’s true, maybe I just haven’t had anything to write for a bit.
I’ll be better from now on! :-)
Spring forward?
Ok, DST is kind of my nemesis…at least this part of it. The whole “springing forward” thing pretty much chafes my craw (what? I don’t even know what that means, but if there was ever a time to use the phrase, it would be here).
Basically, I need to start preparing for this now, because it’s always an unpleasant shock when I realize I’ve lost an hour each...
Epic Journey
Ok, so it’s not “epic,” but here’s a short list of places I want to go in the very near future. Too bad traveling costs money. And too bad traveling takes time. But not too bad that if there’s a way to do this, I will do this! In no particular order:
San Diego, CA
Los Angeles, CA
Durham, NC
Austin, TX
New York, NY
Chicago, IL
Portsmouth, Commonwealth of...
What I learned over the weekend
A “snifter” and a “pony” are actual measurement units
Gluing rhinestones to your face can leave small red welts on your skin for about 36 hours if not properly removed (whoops)
Glitter can be very painful if it falls in your eyes
I can get a lot done when I don’t have internet access for three days
True love can conquer all (I kind of knew this, but it was...

Do you know where your productivity is?
Reason #12 Why I am a nerd*
I enjoy watching the LOTR movies. Back-to-back on occasion. Like today, for example. It’s a good story, ok?
And maybe because of this guy:
And this guy:
Yeah.
*See reasons #1-10 here, and reason #11 here.
Yep, this pretty much sums it up (as seen on Dani’s fb profile).
Hell-oooo March!!!
My friend Hannah had her second baby yesterday morning. Yay! (Talk about an end-of-February celebration!).
The “F” month is over, and it’s now March, which means spring, change, and moving on to awesomeness.
Upward and onward!
I went to Lawrence
Didn’t have internet acces.
And now I’m back.
The end.
