Something interesting has happened. For the longest time, probably since I was working as a volunteer attorney and then later, when I was hired full time, I have avoided using the computer when I get home from work. I look at a computer screen all day, it’s the last thing I want to do when I get home in the evening. Until the past couple of weeks. I’ve started coming home, thought...

I finally got around to checking my email and social media and such and I found a $10 gift ecard from my tumblr buddy! Thanks TB! This will be enjoyed very quickly :-)

On the subject of Thanksgiving, I also want to add that I am not a fan of the Black Friday sales starting at midnight on the Friday after Thanksgiving, and especially not the sales happening ON THANKSGIVING DAY. Seriously, this is commercialism at its worst, and it’s infuriating. Opening the doors at midnight means that people will be lining up hours in advance, cutting into what I’ve...

I know that certain cable networks (I’m looking at you, ABCFamily and Hallmark) are airing Christmas movies starting this weekend, or before even. I refuse to watch any Christmas movies or listen voluntarily to Christmas music until AFTER Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is my favorite winter family time holiday, and I want to celebrate it on it’s own, without the Ghost of Christmas...

The proposal story
Because it’s an FAQ, and because I just love the way he did it, here’s how Josh proposed. Forgive me in advance for any mushy undertones. The weekend started early for me, as I got Friday off for Veterans Day. I went up to Lawrence a day earlier than usual, and I got to go to the KU Basketball game on Friday night. A student tradition at the games is to tear up newspaper into confetti...

NaBloPoMo Prompt 8: Has anything traumatic ever...
I’m not a fan of this prompt. Not so much because I’ve had anything particularly traumatic happen to me, but it’s asking a rather personal question and I don’t know that people want to describe, in writing, the scenes surrounding a traumatic event in their lives. That, and “trauma” means different things to different people. I feel like it may be almost...

NaBloPoMo Prompt 7: How do you balance your...
This is a guest prompt from Ricki Lake. Well, ok then. I guess this post flows pretty well from my last one. I already wrote about how I balance my relationship. I have no kids of my own, and Josh’s son is with him, so I see him on the weekends as well, so that answers that part. My work/life balance (ew. Can we just strike that phrase from the record of ever existing?) is pretty well set...

NaBloPoMo Post 6: Long Distance Relationship
iamtheeness asked: For a blog post, perhaps: If I’m not mistaken, you and Josh in two different cities most of the time. I’d love to see how you make the relationship work (I’ve had states in between… it’s not easy! It’s true, Josh lives 2 hours away from me, and this has been the case for more than a year. We spent the first year of our relationship...

NaBloPoMo Post 5: Favorite memory from college (no...
No prompts on weekends! That’s ok, I was busy over the weekend anyways. This post comes from Kristen, my former college roommate. Of course I don’t have ONE favorite college memory. I have too many to count. I would probably have to do an NCAA bracket style faceoff to pick a winner. In fact, I probably will sometime, just for fun. I realized when writing this, that although college...

I’m borrowing this idea from Laura. I’m sure I won’t like all the prompts from BlogHer, so if you have suggestions for posts, or just things you want to know, tell me. I’ll be happy to answer more personalized questions, and those with better grammar. You can put them in the ask box, or just reply here.  Come on, you know you wanna.

NaBloPoMo Day 4: When you are writing, do you...
I generally use a computer, and I prefer that. Longhand is great, and I used it for my diaries when I was younger, and I love that I can look back on those and feel how personal and important that writing was. I’ve done the majority of my writing on a computer from about age 8, or, when I was even younger, on my dad’s old typewriter. That thing was the coolest when I was 6. I think I...

NaBloPoMo Day 3: Can you listen to music and...
That is two different prompts, only semi related. I’ll go with it. I can’t listen to music with words and write, and if I have music on while I’m writing or working, it’s very quiet, background, instrumental stuff. Listening to music with words will lead to one or more words from the songs ending up in my work. My brain must process music and thoughts right near each...

NaBloPoMo Day 2: If you knew that whatever you ate...
Before eating, I would use my red editor pen and rewrite these prompts. Then I would eat them.  Discussions of “last meals” turn my thoughts to serious and depressing subjects like the death penalty and executions. So morbid. But how else do you have a last meal?  Actually, I know one situation. I got my wisdom teeth out over Spring break during my sophomore year of high school....

NaBloPoMo Day 1: What is your favorite part about...
**I’m a little late to the game on this one, so I’ll be catching up through the day a bit. Carry on.** I don’t actually like this prompt. It’s the first one though, so I’ll give it a shot. My favorite part about writing is the cathartic effect. Writing my thoughts out, even if no one else reads them, has always been the best way to release those thoughts from my...

Anonymous asked: Glad you liked the package. I had a feeling it would "meow" the whole way there, and was hoping the battery wouldn't be dead on arrival. I am sure the package got a few sideways glances from the people at USPS.

Hi tumblr buddy! Sorry for the delay, I loved your Halloween package! Pic to come soon! Funny story. I got your package on Wednesday, but didn’t have time to open it before going on a work trip for the rest of the week. I couldn’t wait to get back though, because when I put the box down, it meowed! I already knew I would love it. Thank you!!
