Notes &
Memories, Memorials
I just spent a bit of time reading some old entries in my Xanga from this time last year. I don’t really write in that blog anymore, but I keep it so that I can read subscriptions from a few of my friends who still use it. And every once in a while, I update it, so it’s not totally defunct just yet.
Anyways, it was funny to read back to what I was doing then (as it always is). I had just graduated, was finishing up my time at the Kansas Legislative Research Department, was excited about the award I won at graduation and the parties, family, ceremonies, etc. It was a good time. I wasn’t looking forward to Bar review (and as I read throughout the summer, I never really did enjoy that), and I was looking forward to Lollapalooza and moving. I was pretty sure I’d have a job right now (but life got in the way, ya know), and I was slowly posting less and less in the blog.
Well, this year I’m looking forward to getting a job, moving to DC, and, of course, Lollapalooza, which is shaping up to be a fantastic trip this year :-)
And today is Memorial Day. We remembr the military men and women who have given their lives in serving our country. While I might not always agree with what we’re doing, abroad and here at home, I never fault the military people who work so hard to serve the country. That’s a noble cause and calling, and they are well-deserving of everyone’s rememberances.
I also memorialize the past year personally, as one of unexpected events, defeats, and ultimate triumphs. Here’s to another year of unexpected joys and overall, of hope.
