Notes &
RIP Ed, Michael, and Farrah.
Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson died yesterday. Really, just some short hours ago. Farrah had cancer. I hate cancer. Her death was somewhat expected, although pretty tragic. MJ’s death was…unexpected. Although he wasn’t really well, he wasn’t healthy, and I think the stress of preparing for his upcoming “curtain call” shows was too much for him. All the same, it’s shocking to have two well-known figures die on the same day, within hours of each other.
Just the other day, Ed McMahon, another figure from my childhood and beloved tv sidekick passed away, naturally, of old age, and peacefully. We all have to go, and that’s pretty much the way to do it.
It’s still sad.
And no, it’s not odd to feel sad when well-known figures die, and it doesn’t make you oh-so-cool if you say that you don’t really care, or that you aren’t affected by it. Even if it’s true, there’s no need to diminish other peoples’ sadness. I saw a lot of that on facebook and twitter today, and it’s just not my cup of soup.
RIP Ed, Farrah, and Michael. Emphasis on the “Peace.”
