Yelp schmelp?
So….
I’ve only been on Yelp a little over a day, but I’m already reading negative things about the service, and how it doesn’t treat smaller businesses fairly, and is fairly inconsistent in the enforcement of its “rules” about false posting. I’ve also read that many Yelpers are considered, well…douchebags.
Now, I ony know three or four people, maybe more who are active on Yelp, and none of them are douchebags in any way (um, I don’t stay friends with douchebags. Just sayin’). But I can see how some Yelpers might get it into their heads that they are trained food and restaurant critics, and cop a ‘tude, which is way uncool. But I don’t think the majority of people using the site are like that. Are they?
Wel, I’m sticking with it for now, as I keep remembering places here and in Lawrence that I enjoyed, and trying to remember the names of places I’ve been in other states that I liked. If I decide that the site is too much for me and my tastes, then I might quit. But for now, I look at it as a potential way to meet new and fun folks, and to experience new places.
My friends, I am not a douchebag.
