In the Mean Time

Shenannigans!

I had the chance to get a ride to Lawrence this week, which was good, because I needed to meet with the KU Law career services people to see about getting me some good old employment.

My trip there and back was a bit different than my usual jaunt up to Larryville however, which made for an interesting couple of days.

One of my friends, (we’ll call him “Danny”), who lives here was planning on going up to Lawrence, and I decided it made sense to just ride up with him, because it would save me the driving time and other such things. But, because of his work schedule, we left here at about 2:30 a.m. and arrived in Lawrence around 5 a.m. Like, whoa. Then, when we got to town, we proceeded to stay up until about 7:30 a.m just hanging out and watching videos and the like. The sun was shining and the birds were singing when I did finally sleep, and I only managed a couple of hours before the friend with whom I was actually staying (we’ll call her “Michelle”) came to pick me up and go to her place around 11 a.m. We vegged for a little while, she skipped class and we went to go see Confessions of a Shopaholic. Funnier than I expected, and I am a sucker for “chick flicks,” so it was a winner. Then we had late lunch at this awesome burger place called Five Guys, Burgers and Fries. Awesome. THEN we went back to her place for a couple of hours, after which, she drove me to Kim’s (another friend…I know, right?) place for a pot luck and movie watching adventure. (Note: never, ever watch Zardoz…you will regret it!). All in all, it was a fun, if tiring day. I was exhausted though, and when I finally went to bed around 1 a.m, I slept like the dead.

That was amazing.

Firday, I met with career services, which was totally worth the trip, and I also got a little shopping done on Mass St, AND a trip to Zen Zero. My day was complete. I vegged for most of the rest of the day, and then went out for a bit Friday night. Nothing too memorable. Around 3 a.m. decided it would make sense to go back to where Danny was staying, so that we could just leave in the morning. And we left Lawrence at 6-freaking-a.m., got here around 8, and here I am, awake, finally.

I think I’m getting too old for these shenannigans, but it was a good trip, and I am glad I went and got the ball rolling for my move out to D.C. (Yes, that’s still the plan).

And I did get to see a fantastic sunrise this morning. Totally worth it.
