Notes &
I went to California
But now I’m back in KS.
And Friday I will be in North Carolina. I think it’s time to add more destinations to my Epic Journey list.
The trip was super fun, although the weather deities did not really cooperate to my liking. It was in the 60s the whole time I was there (although i think it did get warmer on Sunday).
- Thursday: Bad turbulence on the takeoff out of ‘ta, but that was pretty much the only bad part of any of my flights to and from San Diego. When I got to SD, Kristen, Jordan and I had Thai food, which I’m pretty much always in the mood for, and because I was hungry after my flight, it sounded particularly good. After dinner, we pretty much just went back to their house and went to bed. I slept so well, aside from the persistent kitty who had to complete his very secret and important misssion of looking out the window. Once I figured out how to prevent him from completing his task, I was good to go.
- Friday: While Kristen and Jordan were at work, I slept in (til 10 am! It was noon here), and then worked on job application stuff all morning. I got ready and had a little lunchy and watched tv after that until K got home, and then we went to get mani/pedis at this nice place we went to last time I was in town. Still great service, and I love how not expensive it was compared to KS. After that, we got Jordan from the gym and chillaxed all cool at home. Then we had dinner at this great burger place with good chocolate shakes (although there was imminent danger that the shakes would not arrive as ordered. Crisis averted though, and all was well). After dinner we visited K’s work and said hi to her desk. Then it was back home, tv and bed again. I could get used to this!
- Saturday: We lazed around in the morning and then got ready to go to Santa Monica and then later Sherman Oaks, which are both LA-ish. We were supposed to meet up with my friend Blake, but he had to work, which was sad times, but we did get to hang out with K’s friend Tyler, which was great times. We hung out at the Third Street Promenade, which was “the internet in real life.” And it really was. I also shopped a tiny bit. Then we had sushi and made a quick exit to Sherman Oaks to see The Caterer, starring LeVar Burton at a tiny, but awesome theater called the Whitefire Theater on Ventura Blvd. We sat in the front row and were about 5 feet from the actors at any given moment. Awesome. The drive home was a lot more traffic-filled than we expected, and as soon as we got hime, it was bed time.
- Sunday: After packing up and getting ready, we went to grab some egg and cheese bagels and drove around a bit, where I saw the zoo and Balboa Park, both of which were packed, presumably because it was Easter and because it was nicer out than it had been all weekend. we didn’t really stop, but it was nice to see the area. Then we had brunch at one of Jordan’s classmate’s house, which was yummy! Then it was off to the airport and saying goodbye.
The weekend went by quickly, and we did a lot, but it was so worth the trip, and so great to see K again. I hadn’t seen her since last July (as she reminded me, I thought it had been longer). It was good to get out of KS for a while too; I think I really needed the trip.
That’s all, kthxbai.
