Today at lunch in the break room at work, the TV was on, the news showing a story about the proposed Islamic cultural center in NYC. One person said “why can’t they just make it a cultural center that’s open to all faiths?” (or something along those lines). When I and another coworker pointed out that it would be a cultural center, not a Mosque, based on education and improving the community, she got defensive and said that this is why she doesn’t get involved in political discussions. Fair enough, although I fail to see how this should be a political topic anyways.

Another co-worker said quietly, “why don’t we wait until they’re all inside and then blow it up.”

That just makes me sad.
